Alphabet Picnic
Playing with the whole alphabet (these are activities designed to teach and reinforce the letters as a set). Click on the text or image to visit the contributor's site.

ALPHABET POCKET CHART
I bought 26 library book pockets from a teaching store, and glued them onto a poster board. I wrote a letter of the alphabet on each pocket. Each week we learn about a new letter. At the beginning of the week we think of things that begin with this letter. I draw pictures and write the words on small sheets of paper. (You could also print out clip art pictures, but I don't have a printer!) We then put the pictures into the correct pocket. After Pufferfish starts becoming more familiar with the alphabet, I will take out all of the pictures and let her sort them into the correct pockets on her own!

JOLLY PHONICS
I used to work in a school where Jolly Phonics were used. I've been using a somewhat adapted version with Pufferfish, Each letter sound comes with a picture, a story, and a motion. For instance, with the letter B, I had Pufferfish color a picture of a ball, while I told her a story about a little girl who got a brand new ball. In the story, the little girl bounced the ball, and the sound the ball made as it bounced was, "B-B-B!" I make the motion of bouncing a ball with my hand, while making the "B-B-B" sound. Whenever we see the letter B, then, we do the bouncing ball motion, while making the "B-B-B" sound. You can check out a Jolly Phonics manual from the library, or you can pretty easily come up with your own stories, pictures and motions!
